A low carb breakfast recipe is a great addition to any low carb diet. Unfortunately, alot of people are into the nasty
habit of skipping breakfast.
I can't overstate the importance of eating a healthy low carb breakfast in the morning.
By consumming a healthy low carb breakfast you set the tone and feeling for the day.
I would venture to say that
your day and low carb diet will not be complete without some kind of
low carb breakfast recipes.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Alot of people eat so much in the evenings after a hard days work and
sleep badly that they are unable to eat a good breakfast the next morning.
This has to change if you want to start getting
the most from your low carb diet. Eat a breakfast consisting of several eggs, butter and some kind of meat.
At first,
it will be very difficult to stomach the breakfast and you may not be able to eat all that much but keep at it and
keep on schedule. Your goal is to eat a healty low carb breakfast.
I have found that by staying on schedule and using a good low carb breakfast recipe and other low carb recipes that I was
able to not only to eat a healthy low carb breakfast but I was able to enjoy it tremendously.
What a difference a good
breakfast makes. You will no longer be bound to by weakness and hunger in the morning. This allows for a whole different
planning schedule at work and will surely increase your productivity.
I strongly suggest you start your day with a good breakfast using a great tasting low carb breakfast recipe or other
low carb recipes.
If your day begins with a good healthy meat or egg breakfast, instead of the usual bagel and orange
juice breakfast, then you'll find it's easier to withstand carb temptation during the rest of the day.
The low carb breakfast recipe presented here and other low carb recipes call for the use of eggs. Eggs are not the
evil scourge we have been led to believe. Contrary to popular belief, eggs do not contribute to the build up of
cholesterol.
In fact, there is no connection whatsoever between food cholesterol and blood cholesterol. The egg is in
fact, a superior nutritional product that can be bought at bargain prices. Organic eggs from free range chickens are
probably your best bet for quality eggs.
I suggest you start by using a great tasting low carb breakfast recipe using foods you enjoy. I will provide you with a
low carb breakfast recipe and some other great tasting breakfast recipes to get you started.
Remember to be a little
creative about the following low carb breakfast recipe. Add some extra spices or flavors based on your personal
preferences.
Low carb breakfast recipe #1
Ham and Scrambled Eggs
3 eggs, beaten
1 tbsp of butter
1/4 cup diced cooked ham
2 tbsp diced onion
1/4 cup diced green pepper
Salt and pepper
Melt butter in a non stick skillet over medium heat. Add the ham, green pepper, and onion and saute for about 2 to 3 minutes,
until the onion is soft. Pour in the eggs and scramble until the eggs are set. Add salt and pepper to taste, and serve.
Yields about 2 servings
Low carb breakfast recipe #2
Mushroom and cheese omellete
200 ml egg whites or egg substitute
1 cup mushrooms
1/2 cup green peppers
1 ounce cheddar cheese
In a medium sized non stick skillet, saute mushrooms and green peppers for about 5 to 10 minutes or until tender. In a
second skillet, pour eggs and add a dash of salt and pepper. Cook until almost set. Spoon mushrooms and peppers onto
half of the omelletes and add cheese. Fold over and cook 1 additional minute. Place omellete on plate and serve.
Yields about 2 servings
Low carb breakfast recipe #3
Breakfast Burritos
2 small low carb tortillas
50 g egg whites
1 oz low fat cheddar cheese
2 tbsp salsa
1/4 cup light sour cream
1/4 cup 1% cottage cheese
½ cup sliced and diced mushrooms
1/4 cup sliced and diced onions
½ cup red pepper trimmed and diced
salsa
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, pepper, and cottage cheese. Set aside. Place tortillas in a warm oven.
Lightly coat a medium saucepan with Pam and place over medium high heat and heat until hot.
Saute mushrooms, onions, and red pepper until soft. Pour egg mixture over vegetables and cook until firm. Place egg
and vegetable mixture over the egg and vegetable down the centre of each warm tortilla. Roll, than top with cheese and
salsa.
Yields roughly two burritos
Low carb breakfast recipe #4
Rodeo Eggs
4 thin slices cheddar cheese
4 slices bacon, chopped into 1 inch peices
4 thin slices of onion
4 eggs
Begin frying the bacon in a non stick skillet over medium high heat. When some of the fat is cooked out of it, push the
bacon over to one side of the skillet and put the onion slices in. Fry the onion on each side, turning carefully to keep
the slices together. Remove the onion and set aside.
Keep frying the bacon until it's crisp. Pour off most of the grease, and distribute the bacon bits evenly over the bottom
of the skillet. Break in the eggs and fry for minute or two, until the bottoms are cooked and the tops are soft. Place
a slice of onion over each yolk, then cover the onion with a slice of cheese. Add a teaspoon of water to the skillet, cover
and cook for about 2 or 3 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Cut into 4 seperat eggs with the edge of the spatula and serve.
Makes about 2 servings.
Low carb breakfast recipe #5
Power Protein Pancakes
2 eggs
1/8 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup vanilla flavored whey protein powder - You can get this at most health food stores. If you don't have access to
a health food store, you can find quality powders
here
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
Spray a skillet with non stick cooking spray and place it over medium heat. In a mixing bowl, whick together the eggs and
ricotta cheese until quite smooth. Whisk in the whey protein powder, baking powder, and salt, only mixing until well
combined. Drop batter onto the skillet. When bubbles start to form on the tops of the pancakes, flip them over and cook
the other side.
Serve with butter and sugar free syrup.
