The Scarsdale Diet has been gaining alot of popularity over the last couple months. An interesting low carb diet that shows you how to convert your body’s metabolism into a fat burning engine.

The book was originally written in the 1970s by New York cardiologist Herman Tarnower (who sadly enough, was murdered a few years after the hugely successful book was published), the original Scarsdale Medical Diet is really a two page, two week, low fat, low carbohydrate, higher protein diet.

Dr. Tarnower's diet allows for the use of some complex carbs, more so than Dr. Atkins' such as bread and fruits, which seems to balance out the nutrition ratios. Is it good? as long as you don't go overboard. The Scarsdale low carb diet also seems to bridg the gap between Atkins' wide-open, free choice (within strict bounds) diet and the strict, detailed diets sold by "weight loss centers," in that it lists everything that should be consummed by the gram.

The plan is laid out clearly. The diet is easy to understand and there are many variations (vegetarian, gourmet, etc.)
plans that can be interchanged with the original diet. Easy to lose the unwanted pounds with this one.
